Let’s take a tour to focus on five works located on the ground floor of the museum. They will offer us the keys to fully understand the Ralli Collection.
Talking about Latin American art may make it sound somewhat homogeneous, but nothing could be further from the truth. It is in fact a multitude of styles, movements and social and political contexts that emerged across the whole continent, resulting in a wide variety of artistic manifestations.
The Ralli Collection encompasses some of the styles that appeared in Latin America between the 1940s and 1990s. These include surrealism, hyperrealism, social art and magical realism, with surrealist art and figurative languages being predominant. They have all been brought together in almost 100 works that illustrate a part of history.
