PROGRAMME FOR SUMMER 2023

This summer, our activities are part of ICOM’s programme to celebrate International Museum Day 2023, with the theme “Museums, Sustainability and Well-being”. We are delighted to join this initiative as these concepts are part of the daily work and raison d’être of the Ralli Collection.

The events that make up the programme for June, July, August and September are inspired by the new temporary exhibition “American Abstraction · Carlos Mérida”, based on the following Sustainable Development Goals:

Health and well-being for all

Climate action

Life on land

The summer months are therefore filled with activities in different formats and aimed at different audiences, representing a new approach compared to previous summers.

*Important note: All activities will be held in Spanish.

5th August | Family workshop visit

Saturday, 5th August | 12pm

“Sensory Oaxaca 2.0”

We will commemorate Pachamama Day (1st August) with our second Sensory Oaxaca activity, in particular pointing out certain aspects such as sustainability and well-being, the main themes of this year’s International Museum Day and that are intrinsic in Museo Ralli Marbella’s collection due to Latin American artists’ support of the indigenous cause.

After a reflective introductory visit to the exhibition “Contemporary art in Oaxaca. Vanguard, myth and tradition”, we will carry out an experimental activity in the courtyard, where we will work with different materials in a rudimentary style, just like the first peoples and civilisations did, based on a common theme: Pachamama.

How long? 1h 30min

Free activity with limited capacity. Register from 1st July by sending an email to reservas@museoralli.es, by calling 952 85 79 23 or at our reception window.

August | Mediation Laboratory “Symbionts”

19th August | 11pm

26th August | 11pm

We are inaugurating a new format of activities based on experimentation and collaborative work, under the name of a “laboratory”.

SYMBIONTS laboratory

Human beings are symbiotic beings. We have a close relationship with other living things, which we rely on for our survival.

Which category would you put the human species into? Do we really need to harm other species or organisms in this way to survive? What is the price of our society’s comfort? Does it really offer us well-being?

These questions give rise to a series of sessions that will address topics such as the use of natural resources, environmental education and “well-being” (or “good living”), based on the perspectives of indigenous feminist thought.

We will also analyse our relationship with the territory and with our traditions, reflecting on the need to generate changes in our models of thought, through the use of experiential art processes that allow us to build new stories.
