Some of the inventions that we know today, that we use every day and that make our lives easier, were dreamed up by women, by brilliant minds. However they had many difficulties showing the world what they had created, and although their inventions finally saw the light of day, many of them remained hidden or relegated to the background. In this conference, these women will be given a voice, and their ideas, their desires and their generous spirit will be revealed (Ada Lovelace, Martha Coston, Mary Anderson, Mary Engle Pennington, Ángela Ruiz Robles, Virginia Apgar and many more).

FANTASTIC ANIMAL WORKSHOP

Creation of our own collection of fantastic animals in 3D from recycled materials using the assembly technique.

Inspired by surrealism and works by Raquel Forner and Salvador Dalí, the idea behind this workshop comes from dreams, fantasy, fun and the freedom to imagine what we want.

Aim: To enjoy surrealism and our freedom to create worlds outside of reality, giving free rein to our imagination and creativity.

The phenomenon of feminism is divided into different waves, each marking an era. Like the waves of the sea, they move forward, but they also recede. At this conference we will explore each of these waves, the historical, social and political context that they develop in, as well as the main figures who have opened up the paths we are travelling along today, and who have been the driving force behind transforming relationships so that human beings can be whatever they want to be, without their destiny being marked by the sex with which they were born.

Even today, very few artists who appear in Universal Art History books are women. Why is that the case? Were there no talented women artists? Or were they out there, but were invisible? We will answer these questions by explaining how society, customs and history have marked women who dedicated themselves to painting. We will look at different periods, placing women painters in the specific moment in history in which they lived, and how this moment influenced their lives and their work.

This conference begins with an introduction on the general role of women in the art world, and then goes on to talk about: Plautilla Neli, Sofonisba Anguisola, Lavinia Fontana, Clara Peeters, Artemisia Gentileschi, Judith Leyster, Angelica Kauffmann, Adelaide Labille-Guiard, Elisabeth Vigeé-Lebrun, Maria Cosway, Rosa Bonheur, Marie Bashkirseff, Mary Cassat, María Blanchard, Hilma af Klint, Tamara de Lempika, Frida Kahlo, Georgia O’Keeffe, Maria Moreno Blasco.
