Ancestral biomythography workshop

Facilitated by Andrea Restrepo

In this workshop, we reflect on our identity through biomythography, a concept that arises from the desire to narrate our personal history through memory, imagination and our relationship with other beings and spaces, constructing a graphic, allegorical and visual biography.

The activity takes place over two sessions on two consecutive days, delving deeper through different practices and activities in this individual exploration, transforming it into a collective experience.

Ancestral biomythography is a contemporary art creation workshop in which, through the exploration of different artistic techniques like ritual art, photographic narrative, collage, performative drawing, and painting, we will reflect on our personal biography in relation to the territory and the mineral, plant and animal ecosystems that make up part of our narrative.

We narrate our own story, using mythology as a resource for imagination or symbiosis with the other living beings that surround us, giving them a place and space where the stories that construct biography and memory unfold. This investigation uses different artistic disciplines, where oral storytelling is the thread that connects a great tapestry through testimonies, artistic creations such as photo-memories, and the use of clay and natural materials to recall the connection with nature and the earth.

In this process, we were accompanied by the artist, researcher and educator Andrea Restrepo.

Aimed at an adult audience.
